Turning an attic into a bedroom typically triggers a building-code requirement for emergency egress, natural light, and ventilation in that room. A properly sized, properly placed roof window can satisfy that requirement where a standard skylight can't, because it actually opens wide enough to serve as an exit.

How long does installation take?

Is there still a federal tax credit for solar-powered skylights?
No. The 30% federal Residential Clean Energy Credit ended for installations completed after December 31, 2025, so new installations no longer qualify. If any state or utility incentives apply to your project, we will flag them during your consultation.
What's the difference between a roof window and a skylight?
A skylight is usually fixed or venting overhead glass sized to light a room from above. A roof window is bigger, mounted lower on the slope within reach, and built to open like a real window, so it doubles as ventilation and, on some models, an emergency exit for a finished attic or loft.
